Searchable Database

Push Button Recording

Start and stop recording with the push of a button. The system also integrates with independent or in button LEDs providing a visual indicator as to when a recording is active.

Markers

Tag specific points within a recording either during live observation or during the review process. These points can have searchable descriptions associated with them. These “markers” are great for providing feedback. A marker allows users to easily jump right to that point in the video similar to chapters in a DVD.

VALT Skills Lab Recording Equipment

Various colleges and universities use the VALT system to record skills lab video sessions. Such recordings are made with high-definition IP cameras which can be either fixed or movable. Multiple cameras can also be placed in each room to provide additional viewing angles of the instructional skills session. Cameras are coupled with high-quality auto-gaining microphones that provide crisp, clear audio with no background hum or static.

Video sessions, once recorded, are immediately available on the central server with no lag time due to formatting or rendering. The central server, which obliviates the need for recording equipment in each room, can store around 16,000 hours of high-definition footage. Any students or other users can access video sessions using nothing more than a common internet browser, such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox — no special viewing equipment is needed.

Administrators who create skills lab video content can annotate each session with notes, which will be available to students who watch the segment. Each segment is also tagged with metadata, facilitating lookup and categorization of each session.

VALT Software for Recording Labs

Video content is accessed and controlled through a simple internet browser. Administrators have full control over video settings, including determining who has access and how long learning lab videos are available on the network. Learning lab video segments are recorded in standard MP4 format, allowing easy sharing across a range of devices.

The VALT IP cameras and microphones are very portable and can be easily set up at remote locations, should you wish to record a skills lab session away from outfitted rooms. The Beam mobile capture application allows you to record video remotely using a tablet or smartphone. When you return to the building WiFi, the video content is automatically uploaded to the VALT central server.
