Product Features

HD PTZ Camera Support

HD PTZ Camera Support

Control HD pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras through our software interface using a mouse. The VALT software can also create or jump to predefined positions “presets” when our system is paired with PTZ enabled cameras.

Camera Grouping

Camera Grouping

Group multiple cameras or encoders together into a single room.  Grouped cameras start recording together and playback in a synchronized fashion together.

Markers

Markers

Tag specific points within a recording either during live observation or during the review process. These points can have searchable descriptions associated with them.  These “markers” allow users to easily jump right to that point in the video similar to chapters in a DVD.

Security & Compliance

Security & Compliance

With comprehensive user management rights, a detailed audit log and optional encryption our video solution offers some of the most advanced security features in the market. These built-in features can help maintain your clinics’ compliance standards (HIPAA/HITECH).

Recording Solutions for Operating Room Training

Using digital video for operating room training helps learners of every level integrate the full clinical learning experience. Using video for recording and observation allows for a more detailed clinical skills assessment, allows instructors to highlight any part of a clinical simulation during the debrief, and permits institutions to build a digital video library of clinical simulations for future viewing.

The VALT (Video Audio Learning Tool) solution from IVS is a user-friendly and inexpensive clinical simulation management application. The VALT system can be used to live-stream or record video from any simulation room, even remotely. VALT uses far less hardware than most systems. Instead, all video content is sent to a central server, removing the need for recording equipment to be placed in each room. The VALT video solution for operating room simulations is easily scaled up from small, one-room installations to multiple-room installs supporting dozens of cameras.

VALT Video Equipment for Clinical Skills Training

VALT uses both fixed and movable PTZ high-definition IP cameras. Multiple cameras can be placed in each room to provide different viewing angles. Our top-end cameras are paired with auto-gain microphones that remove most background noise and eliminate hum altogether. Combined they provide unparalleled video quality.

Our typical install for recording operating room clinical simulations contains storage space for around 16,000 hours of video, although more storage can be added if needed. Video is recorded in standard .mp4 format and can be viewed by any authorized person using nothing more than a common internet browser, such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox — no special viewing equipment is required.

A remote viewer can start and stop any recording session, or a special button placed in the simulation room can be used for the same purpose. All video content is immediately available on the network, with no delays due to video rendering or formatting.

VALT Recording Software for Operating Room Simulations

VALT software is extremely powerful, yet easy to use. Administrators can annotate individual video segments with notes, alter settings that determine how long video is stored on the central server, and determine which persons have access. Each clinical skills recording is also tagged with metadata, making it easy to locate and access individual sessions from the video library.

With VALT, it is easy to record operating room clinical simulations off-site. The Beam mobile capture application allows you to set up off-site and record the simulation or training event with a tablet or smartphone. When you return to the main server, the video content syncs and uploads automatically.

IVS can provide a complete turnkey solution that can be implemented by any internal IT department or by a third-party integrator. We work closely with every customer to ensure a successful installation of the VALT digital video solution. Contact us at IVS to request a quote or to schedule a product demonstration.

FAQs

+-
How can audio/video recording improve training and clinical skills assessment of operating room training?

The IVS VALT audio/video recording system allows for a more detailed evaluation of clinical skills by capturing every aspect of the operating room experience. Instructors can review recorded sessions during debrief to highlight specific techniques, procedures, or interactions. This comprehensive video documentation enables learners at every level to integrate the entire clinical experience, enhancing their understanding and performance. Additionally, institutions can build a digital video library of clinical simulations for future reference and training purposes.

+-
What are the advantages of your audio/video system over traditional video recording setups in operating rooms?

VALT is a user-friendly A/V capture software solution which requires far less hardware than most traditional systems. Instead of placing recording equipment in each room, all video content is sent to a central server. This streamlined approach reduces clutter, simplifies maintenance, and allows for easy scalability from single-room installations to multiple-room setups supporting dozens of cameras. Our system is designed to provide a seamless, efficient, and cost-effective video recording solution for operating room environments.

+-
What types of cameras do you use, and how do they ensure high-quality video and audio capture?

We use a combination of fixed and movable PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) high-definition IP cameras. Multiple cameras can be placed in each room to provide various viewing angles, ensuring comprehensive operating room coverage. Our top-end cameras are paired with auto-gain microphones that minimize background noise and eliminate hum, resulting in exceptional video and audio quality. This advanced technology allows for precise, detailed documentation of clinical simulations and training sessions.

+-
How can users access and review recorded operating room sessions?

Authorized users can easily access and view recorded sessions using any standard internet browser, such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, on their preferred device. No special viewing equipment is required. Our system ensures that all video content is immediately available on the network, with no delays due to rendering or formatting. Users can locate specific sessions quickly using metadata tags, making it simple to retrieve and review relevant content from the video library.

+-
Can your system support off-site audio/video recording of operating room simulations or training events?

Our BEAM mobile capture application lets you easily record operating room clinical simulations and training events off-site using a tablet or smartphone. Set up the application at the off-site location, record the session, and when you return to the main server, the video content will automatically sync and upload. This feature provides flexibility and convenience for capturing training sessions and simulations outside the primary facility.

+-
How does your audio/video system ensure the security and compliance of recorded operating room videos?

Security and compliance are top priorities for our VALT video solution and all IVS audio/video products. We offer comprehensive user management rights, detailed audit logs, and optional encryption to maintain the highest level of security. These built-in features help ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA. Administrators can control user access and set retention policies for stored video content. We work closely with each customer to implement a secure and compliant video recording system tailored to their specific operating room requirements.
