Recording Solutions for Rehabilitation Training

Using video to record rehabilitation sessions augments the learning process for students of therapy. Video review of rehabilitation sessions allows for more accurate clinical skills assessments and improves students’ critical thinking and decision-making skill sets. Using digital video to view and record rehab sessions is a powerful tool for therapy training.

The VALT (Video Audio Learning Tool) solution for recording rehabilitation training dispenses with the need for either bulky, analog systems or expensive digital platforms. VALT is an inexpensive, centralized digital video solution that can simultaneously handle any number of cameras and microphones and features easy-to-learn hardware and rehabilitation recording software. VALT is fully scalable — suitable for both one-room installations and department-wide deployments.

VALT Rehabilitation Recording Video Equipment

For recording rehab labs, VALT offers both fixed and movable IP cameras, all of which feed to a central server. The central server can store nearly 16,000 hours of high-definition video, and removes the need to have separate video hardware in each rehab room. No special equipment is required for students and instructors to access video — any platform running a standard internet browser (such as Safari, Chrome, or Firefox) will suffice.

To create video and audio recordings, we pair our state-of-the-art IP cameras with auto-gaining rehabilitation recording microphones that eliminate hum and other background noises. Multiple cameras may be placed in each room, to allow viewing from many different angles. Operators can start and stop video recordings remotely, or from a switch placed inside the room itself.

Another powerful tool is the VALT “talkback” feature, which allows remote viewers to communicate directly and in real-time with students or instructors in the room itself. Users can annotate video segments with notes for the benefit of future viewers, and each segment is automatically tagged with metadata to facilitate the location and categorization of each session. Such categorization is useful for separating different groups of video sessions, for example, drug rehabilitation videos from physical rehabilitation videos. Administrators have full control over user access and can determine which persons are allowed to view a particular group of videos.

Rehabilitation Recording Video Software by VALT

VALT video uses h.264 compression and is recorded in standard .mp4 format, minimizing demands on the local network and resulting in no lag time associated with video rendering — video is promptly available on the network for authorized viewing. Administrators may alter settings to determine how long video sessions are available on the network and who has access. All video content is fully encrypted and protected by extensive user rights management.

VALT IP cameras and microphones are extremely lightweight and portable, allowing departments to easily set up off-site rehabilitation sessions using just a tablet or smartphone, running our dedicated Beam mobile capture application. When the operator returns, recorded digital video is automatically synced with the central server.

Departments may choose a turnkey solution from IVS, which can be implemented by internal IT departments, technology groups, or by a third-party AV/IT integrator. IVS works closely with each department to ensure a fully successful VALT video installation. Contact us at IVS to schedule a product demonstration or to request a quote.

FAQs

+-
How can audio/video recording boost rehabilitation training and education?

The VALT audio/video recording system is a powerful tool for training. By capturing therapy sessions on video, students and instructors can review and analyze techniques, patient interactions, and progress in great detail. This facilitates more accurate clinical skills assessments, improves critical thinking and decision-making abilities, and allows for targeted feedback and discussion. Video recording provides a comprehensive record of each session, enabling a deeper level of learning and collaboration.

+-
What types of cameras does your audio/video system support, and how do they improve the recording experience?

IVS supports a range of high-definition IP cameras, including fixed and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) models. Our software interface makes it easy to control PTZ cameras, allowing you to adjust the viewing angle and zoom level. You can also create and jump to predefined positions, known as "presets," for quick and efficient camera management. By strategically placing multiple cameras in each room, you can capture various angles and perspectives, providing a comprehensive view of each rehabilitation session.

+-
How can your audio/video system facilitate remote collaboration and real-time communication during rehab sessions?

The VALT audio/video system includes a "talkback" feature that enables remote viewers to communicate directly and in real time with students or instructors in the room. This feature is particularly useful for facilitating collaboration and providing immediate feedback. Remote experts or supervisors can observe sessions live, offer guidance, and engage in discussions with the on-site team. This real-time communication enhances the learning experience and promotes a more collaborative approach to rehabilitation training.

+-
Can your audio/video recording system be used for off-site rehabilitation sessions?

The VALT system is designed to support on-site and off-site rehabilitation sessions. For even greater flexibility, we offer the BEAM mobile capture application, which turns a tablet or smartphone into a mobile recording device. Use BEAM to record off-site sessions, and the video will automatically sync with your central server when you return, seamlessly integrating with your existing VALT video library.

+-
How does your audio/video solution help organize and manage the recorded video content?

The VALT system includes a built-in searchable database, making organizing and managing your recorded video content easy. You can tag videos with relevant data, such as clinician/patient names or therapy types, enabling quick lookup and review. Administrators have complete control over user access, ensuring that only authorized individuals can view specific groups of videos. Additionally, each video segment is automatically tagged with metadata, facilitating categorization and making locating specific sessions within your growing video library simple.

+-
